Singapore
I was there 4 days to be exact. I travel from airport to hotel, from office to restaurant then to the national library, it given an impression that, Singapore is a very clean and systematic country.
First of all, the taxi were enforced to keep it clean and tidy else the license would be seized, taxi are strictly no detour by rule, electronic meter was provided in the taxi, meter was sealed with series number to avoid meter abusing. Receipt able to generate electronically. Taxi driver are obligated to stop passenger at designated area, this avoid unnecessary car incidents and traffic jam. Most the driver speak decent English and if you are lucky enough, you may even board in a brand new Mercedes taxi without additional charges! Taxi driver also shared with me that government doesn’t impose only fine as a method to discipline the citizen but to clean at the beach for hours! Hey, what an effective way of doing it!
I went into hotel equipped with great facilities at great price and everything else in hotel as usual. As usual, I went to office after check –in hotel and refreshed. The office located in the down town and the premises of 20 floors (i guess) was under refurbishing, what impressed me was, while it’s cover up which you will see in most of the construction work undergoing in my country, but you won’t see a single ash and stone fall out of the nest! Impressive, so the pedestrian can rest assured walking along the side with great security.
You won’t feel hot during the hot peak hour lunch time unlike here. The weather is soothing although under a glaring sun, well since I don’t want to perceive bias and judging too early, I got confirmation from both countries who experience going to my country! So that’s tell why Singaporean are relatively fair! What a poor difference although we are neighborhood! Not only the soothing weather but also dust-less!
For food, the restaurant are well orgarnised, not many hawker stall around but well set up restaurants, well, I do saw few mamak stalls around. Most white collar are well dressed up even most of them have to commute with train, well groomed and most of them bother to put on make-ups! Doesn’t mean it’s a must to put it on but it makes a difference, you see many beautiful ladies around! Yeah
The high rise building in Singapore are relatively modern too, if not, very orgarnised, means it’s clean and well maintained. It makes me feel like situating in western country I ever been. It’s beautiful. The country flooded with Caucasians and best of all, you can bring your dog around the city! Haha. Then I won’t have problem jogging with cancan anymore.
What else I want to share? Ya, Singaporean are relatively “kiasu”, however looking at the positive sides, it does produced positive competitions in the company, which helps to improve company performances. It’s stress to work in Singapore but if you are performance challenger, you would like it.
I guess that’s about all I wish to share. I hope my impression remained when I make a trip there again.
